CISA is celebrating 120 years since the foundation of a workshop for the manufacture of wooden sieves and screens at the end of the 19th century by Don Antoni Ros in the Poble Nou district of Barcelona. It is not every day that we turn 120 years old, but we are more innovative and younger than ever, much less so.

We are celebrating these 120 years with the launch of a new website with an intuitive and agile navigation and with a new YouTube channel that includes the main features of our digital sieves shakers, as well as practical tutorials and the new line of services of the company.

First Years: 1899 to 1.959

Don Antoni Ros establishes a workshop for the manufacture of wooden sieves and screens in the Poble Nou district of Barcelona. It was in 1948, with the help of the founder’s son-in-law, Juan José Sans Alabau, that he moved to a new building located at Carrer Pedro IV 197 bis, also in Barcelona. In this new premises a new activity was started: the marketing of metal fabric for industrial applications. It was thanks to the push of Sans Alabau that Cedacería Industrial was consolidated in one of the main suppliers of metallic fabrics at a national level. At the same time and thanks to its friendship with Antoni Gaudí, the company supplied the metal fabric used in the construction of the building of La Pedrera, as well as the umbrella of the sculptural fountain of the Lady of the Umbrella located in the Barcelona Zoo.

From 1.960 to 2.000, the momentum

In 1960, Jordi Ferrer Carabús, Sans Alabau’s son-in-law, gave a great impulse to the conception, commercial strategy and evolution of the classic wood sieve, by passing from the handcrafted production to an industrial production of metallic and precision sieves, completed with a line of electromagnetic sieves that were a reference in the national market for almost 20 years, with the PTZ40 model.

In the year 1987 we started the manufacture of our own line of sieving equipment, presenting at the 1988 ACHEMA exhibition, the first sieving machine with digital regulation, model RP01. This model was followed by the most significant ones, the RP08 and RP10 models.

The domestic sieve, which was only understood as an element for separating thicker fractions from the fine ones and which was a common tool in granaries, flour mills, foundries and pharmacies, was now considered a sieve, a metrology tool subject to increasingly demanding regulatory criteria.

At that time, a change in CISA’s business strategy took place that was based on

  • An intensive use of new technologies.
  • A commitment to the development of electronic control technologies.
  • A close collaboration with the university world.
  • And a commitment to the foreign market, a source of expansion and growth for the company.

The first steps were taken at the Achema exhibition in Frankfurt and at the Salon du Laboratoire du Paris, both in 1988.

From 2.000 to the present: Innovation and entry into the International market

Since the beginning of the 21st century, and already with Jordi Ferrer Sans, son of Jordi Ferrer Carabús, CISA’s presence has been consolidated in the Achema Asia in Beijing, Analytica in Munich, Moscow and Singapore, ArabLab in Dubai and Pittcon in the USA.

This entire strategy has been key in the current presence of CISA SIEVING TECHNOLOGIES in more than 80 countries around the world, obtaining clients from prestigious firms in different sectors, mainly the pharmaceutical one.

Currently the headquarters of CISA SIEVING TECHNOLOGIES is located in the 1200 m2 industrial building in Lliçà de Vall (Barcelona), dedicated to the integral production of sieves and sieve shakers, both laboratory and industrial.

As future challenges we propose the implementation of new innovative designs in our equipment and in increasing our portfolio of products and services.

We invite you to subscribe to our new Cisa Cedacería YouTube channel, as well as to learn about our different lines of products in sieves, laboratory sieving and calibration services, in our new website.
