It was in 1899 when Don Antoni Ros established a workshop for manufacturing wooden sieves and screens in the Poblenou neighborhood of Barcelona. Together with his son-in-law, Juan José Sans Alabau, they moved to a new building located on Pere IV Street in Barcelona, initiating a new activity: the commercialization of metal mesh for industrial applications. With the drive of Sans Alabau, CISA Cedacería Industrial consolidated itself as one of the main suppliers of metal meshes at the national level. From the very beginning, dedication to well-executed work and attention to detail became the pillars of the company’s business philosophy.

 As the market and technology evolved, CISA knew how to adapt and grow. In 1960, Jordi Ferrer Carabús, son-in-law of Sans Alabau, propelled the conception, commercial strategy, and evolution of the classic wooden sieve, transitioning from artisanal manufacturing to industrial production of precision metal sieves. This was complemented by a line of electromagnetic sieving machines that became a benchmark in the national market for almost 20 years: we are talking about the PTZ40 model. This sieving machine marked an important milestone in CISA’s history. This new product not only allowed expansion into new markets but also reinforced the company’s reputation as a pioneer in the industry.

Over the years, the product line was expanded to include sieving equipment with digital regulation, each designed with the same meticulousness and passion that characterize the company. The first sieving machine with digital regulation was the RP01 model, followed by the RP08 and RP10. At the same time, the domestic sieve, which was only understood as a tool for separating coarser fractions from finer ones and was commonly used in barns, flour mills, foundries, and pharmacies, came to be considered a “tamiz”: a metrological tool subject to increasingly demanding normative criteria.

The main changes in global trade that affect us directly can be summarised as follows:

• The constant rise in the price of oil and its derivatives, which causes an unstoppable increase in transport prices, as well as complicated forecasting of logistical deliveries.
• As a direct consequence, it has also led to an increase in the daily cost of electricity.
• Rise in stainless steel, with increases in recent months of up to 40%, which we have taken on board as far as possible.
• The freeze by the LME in London on nickel trading augurs further increases in stainless steel, which some suppliers estimate at around 25% to 35% in the coming days.

Our company policy is to maintain as far as possible the prices offered, but we find ourselves in the situation of not being able to offer additional discounts, even without ruling out the possibility of an increase in our tariffs from 2022.

Sieve calibration

At CISA SIEVING TECHNOLOGIES calibration laboratory, we carry out calibration of

• Laboratory sieves: both original CISA sieves and those of any brand or manufacturer
• Industrial sieves

• Electroformed sheets

The calibration of sieves is carried out by means of automatic systems of artificial vision, in accordance with the latest requirements of the standards ISO 3310.1, ISO 3310.2, ISO 3310.3, ASTM E-11, ASTM E-161, ASTM E-323.

These automatic calibration systems avoid errors due to subjectivity in the taking of measurements by laboratory technicians, which ensures a lower degree of uncertainty, increasing the reliability of the results obtained.

With CISA SIEVING TECHNOLOGIES, you can now use your mobile phone to display all your sieve calibration certificates on your phone. With the new CISA QR codes you only need to scan your sieve sticker to access your certificate from your mobile phone (or any other mobile device) – it’s that simple!

The ability to store and organise information is one of the main advantages of the QR code. Although this technology existed long before the Covid-19 pandemic, QR codes have experienced a remarkable boom as a tool to avoid direct physical contact, as they work as a bridge between the physical and digital world. Similar to barcodes, a QR code is an image that contains information that is interpreted by a camera as a hyperlink. QR codes have a large amount of information (up to 4,296 characters) in each one, so they facilitate communication in a dynamic way and according to the new forms of communication.

The main advantages of this new support in the calibrated sieves are

• Personalization: The QR code that you will find on your calibrated sieve is unique and invariable for each associated sieve certification.
• Immediacy: The transfer of information is carried out immediately, the user only has to capture the code with his terminal and immediately access the content.

Sieve shakers calibration

It is recommended that laboratory equipment must be calibrated at least once a year. At CISA SIEVING TECHNOLOGIES we have designed a device that allows us to calibrate sieve shakers of all brands and for both electromagnetic and air-jet sieve shakers.

This is a new and more complete calibration service because it ensures the main parameters with which the equipment performs the granulometric tests: the sieving time and the vibration amplitude in the case of electromagnetic sieve shakers. Rotation speed and pressure, in the case of air-pressure sieve shakers.

The main advantages of this calibration system are

• Ensure the repeatability and consistency of the tests.
